Additional Kershaw County School District Budget Forum Planned

April 17, 2008 – Kershaw County citizens have another opportunity to learn more about the Kershaw County School District’s 2008-09 operating budget Monday, April 28. The school district will be holding a budget forum in cooperation with the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Robert Mills Courthouse.

Superintendent Frank Morgan and Chief Financial Officer Donnie Wilson will make the presentation and be available to answer questions.

“I’ve said before that developing the budget is the most important process for the school district,” Morgan said. “It sets the course for what we are able to do during the whole school year. It’s important for persons to have a good understanding of what’s being proposed so that they can provide feedback and contribute to the process.”

Morgan said that the forum will be held at the Robert Mills Courthouse in Camden. “This presentation is being held in partnership with the chamber of commerce, and is open to everyone who is interested,” he said.

The forum is another component of a districtwide effort to involve the public throughout the budget process. The school district also has posted an online survey to gather input on budget priorities; held priority-setting sessions with teacher, staff and parent groups; posted online podcasts explaining the priority results and budget-setting steps and provided budget updates at school board meetings.
