KCSD News: LEHS, CHS students raise over $65,000 in first week of school for United Way [ http://ow.ly/APNip ]

Friday Fun

Was at Blaney Elementary this morning and walked into Principal Ed Yount’s office….Imagine my surprise when I found Ed dressed in a wig and dress…He promised to do this if the school raised $1,500 for the United Way.  I appreciate Ed being such a good sport!

Over at Doby’s Mill a little later, I had a great time talking with Ms. Rebecca Thrall’s third graders about one-room school houses and how things have changed in schools and the historical reason schools have traditionally closed in the summer…A very bright and articulate group!

Thanks To County Council

I am deeply grateful to County Council for granting the School District an additional 1.8 mills to address athletic stipends and National Board stipends.  This will help a lot in terms of retaining and rewarding people that do a great job for our students!
