Dictionary Parade

I had a terrific time this afternoon at the Mt. Pisgah Elementary School Dictionary Parade.  This was a really creative way to use Halloween to develop language skills and knowledge.  I also heard that Bethune Elementary also did a super job with this idea.  Congratulations to Mt. Pisgah-Bethune Principal Estelle Benson and her folks for a very innovative idea!

Teacher Forum Raises $4,000

I am extremely proud of our Teacher Forum for spearheading the effort to raise $4,000 for flood relief through a campaign called “Pennies for Change.”  Special thanks and kudos to teacher Sarah Spoto of Stover Middle for her leadership on this project!

Induction Teacher Dinner

Thanks to our Teacher Forum for hosting a dinner for Induction teachers this past evening.  I always enjoy this event!  The success of our Induction teachers is very important to the success of our District, and I greatly value and appreciate the support they receive from their mentor teachers and other colleagues.  We’re all in this together!

NCHS Volleyball Coach Honored

Congratulations to North Central volleyball coach Andy Johnson, who has been honored as Region “Coach of the Year.”  Coach Johnson has received this honor several times previously, reflecting the long-term success the North Central volleyball program has enjoyed.

Last night, the Lady Knights won their first round playoff match against Newberry.  They will travel to the Upstate next week for a second round match.

God luck to the Lady Knights!

Beta Club Induction At PTH

I appreciated the invitation to speak at this past evening’s Beta Club Induction at Pine Tree Hill Elementary.  I always enjoy these kinds of events because they are celebrations of both the accomplishments of students and the families that support them and help them be their best.  A truly nice event!  Congratulations to these young people and their families!
