Midway Awarded Innovation Grant

I was tremendously pleased to learn that Midway Elementary School had been awarded a State Innovation Grant.  The process to receive this grant was very competitive.  Only a select number of schools that applied were successful.  Congratulations to Principal Dell Brabham and the staff at Midway.  Great things going on out there in Cassatt!!!

Miciah Bennett

At this past Tuesday’s School Board meeting, we recognized Miciah Bennett, who has covered our district for the Chronicle-Independent for the past two years.  We wish Miciah the very best as she moves on to the next stage of her life and career.  Miciah has done a great job covering some very complex topics related to education.  She always went the extra mile to “get it right.”  She will be missed.  Good luck!!!

Choirs!!

It was a lot fun to have the choirs from Lugoff Elementary and Doby’s Mill Elementary come to sing at the District Office this week.  Both groups were excellent, and everyone here really enjoyed them!  Put us all in the holiday spirit!!

Thanks!!

I want to express my deep appreciation to Mr. Joe Quinlan, the manager of the Camden Wal Mart, and the United Way of Kershaw County for partnering with us to provide coats and gifts for deserving kids in our community.  Special thanks to the employees of the Camden Wal Mart for their generosity of time and money to help in this effort.  It’s made a difference for a lot of children!

Jackson Science Fair

I had a terrific time judging Science Fair projects at Jackson School this morning.  There was some tremendously imaginative work!  It was really difficult to choose the best projects.  I was also pleased and very impressed with the student leaders who hosted the judges.  They did a wonderful job!  Great stuff going on at Jackson!
