I appreciated the invitation to attend this morning’s Veteran’s Day celebration at Camden Elementary School. The program included some very fine music and a well-done skit by CES students and some very excellent speakers. Special thanks to Camden Mayor Tony Scully, Kershaw County Council Chairman (and retired Army General) Julian Burns, Mr. Keith Gaines from […]

Thoroughly enjoyed the invitation to the Camden Elementary Volunteer Recognition Lunch today. Great meal, excellent fellowship, and wonderful entertainment by the Fourth and Fifth Grade Chorus and the Strings class. I have to say how impressed I with the Strings kids….The last time I saw them, all they could do was pluck a tune. They’re […]

I spent a delightful couple of hours this morning judging fourth grade science projects at Camden Elementary. I was so impressed with the sophistication of the projects! I’ve been judging science projects for a lot of years, and I have never seen many of the research topics that I saw today. Great job by everyone […]

The keynote speaker was Ramon Guitard, a U.S. Army veteran who lost his legs while serving […]

I also got the tinikling demonstration, which was fantastic! (Tinikling is a traditional dance from the Phillippines that uses bamboos sticks. Really difficult.) I am looking […]

Really had a good time last night at the Camden Elementary fourth grade Patriot Night, which was held over at the Joseph Kershaw House. Because the event was held at nightfall and the the house was lit with candles, it truly seemed like Colonial times. This event is part of the “Why America is Free” […]

I spent an absolutely splendid Friday morning at Camden Elementary School. I started the day working in Ms. Jennifer Wright’s kindergarten class. I was so impressed with the very nice routine this classroom has at the beginning of the day. Like clockwork! I then spent an hour reading with students in Ms. Robyn Galloway’s third […]
