Our annual Teacher of the Year event, which was held this past evening, is one of those events that I circle in red on my calendar because it is such a true celebration of teaching and teachers. Craig Jelks, a social studies teacher at Stover Middle School, was named this year’s Kershaw County Teacher of the Year. Amy Goodwin, an English and journalism teacher at Camden High School, was named First Alternate, and Lindsey Catoe, a third grade teacher at Midway, was named Outstanding First Year Teacher. Dena Stanley, a senior at Lugoff-Elgin High School, was awarded the Mary Ann Blaskowitz Scholarship to help her pursue collegiate study to become a teacher. Many, many thanks to everyone who helped make this wonderful and uplifting event happen! A great night for Kershaw County!
