LE Student Honored By Boys And Girls Clubs Of The Midlands

I was pleased and proud to learn that Lugoff- Elgin senior Tyler Maple has been selected 2016 Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands (BGCM) Youth of the Year!

Tyler plans to attend the University of South Carolina in the fall to study Physical Therapy. He currently works at Lugoff-Elgin Middle School BGCM as a Program Aid. Tyler started his journey with BGCM as a Jr. Counselor for two summers at our Blaney BGCM site before becoming a Jr. Staff at Lugoff-Elgin Middle where he has continued as a Program Aid.

Tyler was selected from many outstanding young people to be the spoke person for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands. The judges said Tyler was selected for his sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the community. Tyler will be rewarded a $2500 college scholarship for being selected our local Youth of the Year. This spring Tyler  will compete against other Boys & Girls Clubs members from across the state for the opportunity to become South Carolina BGCA Youth of the Year and the chance to earn more scholarships.
