MLK Celebration

The annual Martin Luther King Celebration sponsored by the Camden-Kershaw County Branch of the NAACP was, as always, a wonderful and meaningful community occasion. It was particularly special this year because it was held in the Performing Arts Center at Camden High School. Mr. Bud Furillo, whose documentary about the “Corridor of Shame” received worldwide attention, was the keynote speaker. He delivered an excellent address about the importance of education to our state and society. The music by the MLK Choir and the Camden High Gospel Choir was extraordinary! To cap off the program, longtime educator and community member Mr. Bobby Jones received a Humanitarian Award from the NAACP. An inspiring and memorable recognition of Dr. King!
