Lots Of People To Thank!

I was thankful that we started getting back to normal today…Lots of people to thank.

Kershaw County Public Works really went the extra mile to help get roads ready to handle buses and to help us identify areas where buses would need to be rerouted. The Kershaw County Emergency Services Office and the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office also did outstanding work in terms of keeping us up to date on conditions and other critical information. I can’t say enough about the assistance and cooperation we received from the County.

Our district maintenance staff did a super job of responding to repairs and other work that needed to be done to have schools ready to receive students and staff. Our transportations supervisors did tremendous work on rerouting buses and communicating with families of impacted students. This was particularly challenging given that the road situation changed almost hour by hour.

I also want to give a shout-out to our local media for helping us get the word out.

Finally, thanks to our families and employees and community for their patience and understanding as we worked through a very challenging and somewhat unprecedented set of circumstances.

I was great to have everybody back today!
