SCSBA Legislative Conference

I gained a great deal of insight and valuable information from attending, along with several Board members, the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA) Legislative Conference this past Saturday.  There was a lot of discussion about this major issues (education, roads, DSS, Medicaid, ethics reform) that will face the General Assembly when it convenes in January.  There was also a lot of discussion about the recent South Carolina Supreme Court decision in the Abbeville case, which requires the General Assembly to restructure how K-12 education is funded in our state.  The highlight of the day, however, was our School Board being recognized by the SCSBA for its exemplary efforts in the area of legislative advocacy.  A big day for Kershaw County!
