Boys And Girls Club Ribbon-Cutting

Good things often happen if you’re patient….When I arrived in Kershaw County in 2007, I was surprised that there wasn’t a Boys and Girls Club or a YMCA here.  In the fall of that year, Donny Supplee from the United Way and I talked with Carter Clark of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands about what it would take to start a Boys and Girls Club here.  When the economic downturn occurred, the idea had to be put aside.  But a couple of years ago, Carter Clark came to us about trying to get a Club up and running.  So many people pitched in to make this happen], I couldn’t begin to name them all.  Yesterday, the formal ribbon-cutting took place.  The Boys and Girls Club Jackson Teen Center is serving 100-150 young people a day.  It takes a village…A very big day!
