Thursday Notes

While over at Lugoff-Elgin High School this morning, I enjoyed seeing the projects on Romeo and Juliet done by Nicole Schnibben’s ninth graders.  The students had turned the play into front-page newspaper articles.  Really cool and creative!

Over at Camden High at lunch time, Principal Dan Matthews and the rest of the administrative team were serving the “Platinum Lunch” to 207 CHS students who had earned straight A’s for the first nine week grading period.  That’s over 20% of the student body!  Pretty darned impressive!

Camden Elementary Teacher Recognized

I was extremely happy to learn that Camden Elementary teacher Darlene Cantey has won the Citizenship Education Teacher Award fromVFW Post 8346, and will now move on to the state competition.  Interestingly, the day I found out about Darlene receiving this honor, the parent of one of her students also told me about how Darlene had really motivated her son to read.  Darlene is a super teacher and a credit to the profession!  Congratulations!
