Tonight’s Board meeting at Lugoff Elementary School at 6:00 p.m. will focus on a presentation by Dr. Jerry McKibben on options for elementary redistricting in Camden and West Wateree. The Board will not make any decisions this evening. The next step in the process will be for the Board to decide on specific proposals to take out to community meetings for explanation and input. I also anticipate having some kind of electronic opportunity for citizens to give reaction and input.
As I indicated in an email to employees on October 30, no further recommendations will be made on the budget until we’ve had the chance to review October financial reports and updated revenue projections, so this will not be on tonight’s agenda.

What about Doby? When are we going to find out about which school our children will be in. Also if your child is in Doby at what grade will the cut off (if any) will it be for them to finish at the school. Once again our community is telling us we are rezoned for Blaney and now this is to be to much to keep waiting for answers.I feel like this is very important since the district has brought this up over a year ago and we still have no idea where our children are going to be at next year. You also stated in the meeting that you will be adding on to Blaney for the changes. When will the construction start? Will it be going on while the children are in school next year.
Tammy – Thanks for your questions. This coming Tuesday, the Board will discuss the redistricting option for West Wateree presented by consultant Dr. Jerry McKibben at last Tuesday’s Board meeting. When the Board has decided on an option it wants to seriously consider, which I think will be shortly, a series of public meetings will be set up to take public comment on the proposed lines and grandfathering. You should also feel free to contact your Board member with feedback. The work on the addition to Blaney, which is three small additions to three wings of the building, will begin in the next couple of weeks with completion slated for July. Thanks again for your questions. FM
